Scenes from a birthday party

Waiting patiently for cake…

And waiting…

And waiting…

Waiting patiently for presents…

Present time!

Fun presents!

Good presents!

Love for presents!

The little, human shredders.

LiliBee watches.

Party aftermath.

Happy Birthday to my big girl!

A girl and her (stuffed) dog.

This is Spots. He’s CareBear’s favorite dog. They do just about everything together some days.

They snuggle.

They share a snack.

Sometimes Spots flies.

It’s good to have friends.

Next Top Model, preschool edition

CareBear’s been into “posing” for pictures lately… she even stands up on the ottoman for better showmanship.

Think she has a shot?

CareBear’s first day of school!

CareBear had started school. It’s a little weird for me to have her off on her own on a regular basis, but I suppose it’s a good thing since she loves it. Right?

She’s an independent kid. She has no problem with me leaving her there and hardly needs me to walk her in! She’s figured out the routine already and looks forward to all of the different parts of class. They start with songs and then have activity time (so far, painting and play dough are her favorites). Then there’s outside time, story time and snack time. After cleaning up, they have the always popular music time and then it’s time to go home. The two hours is pretty full and goes fast, I think.

She’s on her way. She’s growing up.

At least I have the little one to keep me company!

Siblings

Having more than one kid can be interesting. For instance, the big one might be enjoying a leisurely evening in a lounge chair.

When the little one decides to join them.

And all is calm.

Until the head-butting and/or hair-pulling begins.

“Helping”

CareBear loves to help Chris. Since we’re starting some new projects, she had a great time helping him measure the rooms.

It’s very serious business.

She loves it when she gets it right.

LiliBee “helps” in her own way.

I can’t wait to see her learn to put in flooring!

Benches

On our recent visit to NorthWest Trek, we learned something new… benches are almost more fun than looking at the animals. The kids didn’t miss an opportunity to climb up onto a bench (and they had lots of opportunities, I’ve never noticed how many benches are scattered around the park). LiliBee and CareBear had different bench “styles” though…

CareBear and Pas were more of the “waiting for the bus” type of bench sitters.

Or maybe “hanging in the park”.

I have no idea what the topic of conversation was, but it was pretty entertaining to watch from afar!

*********

LiliBee and Grams, on the other hand, seemed to have more of a “sporting event” method, with lots of looking back and forth.

Maybe it was tennis?

Or basketball?

But they certainly were much more animated than CareBear and Pas!

Super-CareBear

CareBear loves rocks. She collects them from everywhere we go. She’s also fascinated by the boulders that she comes across. Mostly, she wants to climb on them, but not this time…

“Mama, do you think I can pick up this rock?” (My answer: “You can try!” Is that bad?)

“Uuuuuunnnnnnnnggggghhhhh!”

“Mama, I guess I can’t do it.”

And off we went to climb on the “jungle gym” ride again.

When they grow up…

We have conversations daily about what CareBear is going to be when she grows up. It changes hour to hour… a bike rider, a doctor, a princess, a ballet-er, a baseball-er. It’s a fun game.

And then I ask what LiliBee should be when she grows up, to which CareBear inevitably answers “a porcupine!”

Poor LiliBee. I’m sure she’ll be much happier when she can speak for herself!
